Always activate the firewalls and pakage filters that are integrated within your access point. They include important features as denial-of-service attacs, ping requests, RIP-requests and fragmented data pakages.

Take the important points to secure your wireless network seriously. This will avoid misuse of your network, your data and files! If you connect an access point to your ventures network, always set the internal network to another IP range and have it secured by an independent and current firewall.
- Always change the router's standard password! Use a mix of letters,caracters and numbers for a new, minimum 8 caracters long password.
- Preferably you should not use a WEP key, but the more secure WPA or WPA2 key. Always choose a dificult password!
- THe SSID should also consist of a mix of letters, caracters and numbers. Please avoid SSID-Broadcast - visibility of the SSID!
- Set the range of your wireless network only to the range needed. This keeps people from trying to log into your network from nearby.
- Deactivate the DHCP-Server within your access point and manualy introduce the workplaces you use via a MAC adress.
